‘Laissez faire’ would be the most apt description of this painting. You might begin with cloud watching. Like the steam from a tea kettle, smoke rising from an opium pipe or a plain old afternoon-cognitive-cloud from one of those day dreaming reveries, this buoyant, bubbling form was an easy going start, the very first large painting, made on Whidbey Island. A very discriminating four year old referred to the piece as “The Circus Painting”.
